Hi guys, this is Natalie from Cloud Adoption Solutions. And today I have a quick update to bring to you regarding a feature coming in winter 22. The next release, and it’s related to inline edits on reports. Back in summer 21, Salesforce gave an initial release to this feature, inline editing on reports in Lightning Experience only. And it’s, it’s in beta. So that means obviously, it’s not generally available yet, but it is not a cost to you to have. The only downside was the fields that were available on the reports.

So as of summer 21, you were only able to edit text fields and numeric fields on these reports. And if you’re not familiar with inline editing, it’s something that you may already be doing on your list views. This is just bringing this functionality into reports. So coming in winter, 22, they’re expanding the fields. So not only can you edit text fields and numeric fields, they’re now going to open up date fields, picklist and lookup fields. So with this, you know, feature being in beta. They’re continuously working on it and adding new fields, you know, as each release comes. So something that we can definitely look forward to in upcoming releases is the advancement of this functionality.

So what do I need to do? If you haven’t already enabled inline editing on your reports, all you need to do is submit a case to Salesforce and ask them to enable it. And then after they complete the case, you just need to go under your setup menu, where you can find reports and Dashboard Settings and click the Enable inline editing reports checkbox. And that’s it. You can start going to existing reports or build out new reports and start editing those fields, all on the same page that you’re looking at. So it’s a mass update feature.
