What’s New with Salesforce?

Salesforce Pushes Toward the Agentic Enterprise at Dreamforce 2025

At this year’s Dreamforce, Salesforce outlined a sweeping new vision it calls the Agentic Enterprise, a strategy aimed at integrating data, automation, and human decision-making more tightly than ever before. The centerpiece of the announcement was Agentforce 360, an evolution of Salesforce’s platform designed to orchestrate intelligent agents that can reason, speak, and act across business systems.

Rather than positioning this as another AI add-on, Salesforce framed Agentforce 360 as a redefinition of how work happens inside the CRM. These new capabilities are meant to take routine operational tasks off human plates while maintaining transparency and oversight. The company emphasized that governance and accountability are built into the platform, allowing users to understand how automated decisions are made.

What’s New and What’s at Stake

Agentforce 360 introduces voice interaction, contextual reasoning, and deeper automation across Sales, Service, and Marketing Clouds. It aims to let organizations design end-to-end workflows that blend human approvals with autonomous system actions. The ambition is clear: a more efficient, responsive enterprise that can adapt to information in real time.

Still, many customers are approaching this shift cautiously. Integrating conversational logic and automation across multiple business units will require disciplined data management and change readiness. There are also questions about reliability, how these systems will behave in edge cases or high-stakes workflows where a small error can carry large downstream effects.

Salesforce’s Broader Bet

To support its expansion into intelligent operations, Salesforce announced a $15 billion investment in San Francisco over the next five years, dedicated to AI infrastructure, ecosystem development, and skills training. The company is signaling that it expects automation and agentic processes to become central to enterprise strategy, not an experimental side project.

For most organizations, however, turning this vision into measurable impact will depend on groundwork: strong data pipelines, clear process design, and cross-department alignment. Without these foundations, the promise of fully agentic operations could risk becoming another layer of complexity rather than a source of productivity.

Outlook

Dreamforce 2025 underscored Salesforce’s determination to stay ahead of the next wave of digital transformation. The Agentic Enterprise vision holds enormous potential, but its success will depend on how effectively businesses adapt to it, and how responsibly the technology is governed in practice.

User Adoption Research: Details from my PhD Research

We Still Aren’t Talking About User Adoption Enough

When people ask me why on Earth I’d do my PhD dissertation on CRM user adoption, the basic response I have is that my insatiable curiosity towards the topic – and lack of available industry information that isn’t biased – meant I was fully compelled to do this research. I just didn’t have a choice!

Dreamforce 2025 is upon us, and when I search the word “adoption,” I see there are three sessions available for streaming that mention it. One is with Mel Robbins – sure to be inspirational, but not full of tangible, actionable adoption tips. The other two talk about the role of agents in Salesforce adoption. Surely, there are a few more sessions on-ground in San Francisco this week that talk adoption…but likely not enough.

What I found reviewing over 100 peer-reviewed artifacts and then performing qualitative interviews boiled down to this: adoption has to be intentional from the beginning of a project. Considering principles of change management, adult learner theory, and the diffusion of innovations has to happen from the inception of a project. It simply cannot be an after-thought, a change order, or a rescue post-launch.

I hope you catch as many Dreamforce sessions as you can. The first Dreamforce I attended with my colleague and friend Kristina Lowe was so overwhelming at first, until she reminded me, “It’s called Dreamforce because you need to dream about how you can do things differently, and start where you can.” If you’re intending to improve user adoption, dream big! (But do it early!)

Advice from an Expert

Send your Qs to info@cloudadoption.solutions

Q: “When should I evaluate my Salesforce app needs?”

A: So changing app needs really just boil down to how often you’re looking at your processes and technology.

The perfect time is when a specific problem or challenge pops up that your current Salesforce setup just can’t handle well.

It’s also a great idea to evaluate when you notice a big gap or inefficiency that a new app could fix, which usually happens because your business is growing, your requirements are changing, or you need to make things easier for your users or stay compliant.

Basically, start the process by nailing down exactly what your problem is and what you want a new app to achieve. Beyond that, it’s smart to do a quick review periodically (like once or twice a year) just to make sure all your existing apps are still working well with the latest Salesforce updates and supporting where you want the company to go.
