What’s New with Salesforce?

Summer ’26 & Beyond: Moving from Simple Automation to the “Agentic Enterprise”

The Summer ’26 release has fully landed, and the biggest shift in the ecosystem is impossible to ignore: Salesforce is officially shifting from passive AI assistance (like basic chat prompts) to fully autonomous operational agents.

With major upgrades to Agentforce and new features like Data Cloud Triggered Agents, AI in Salesforce is no longer just waiting for a user to click a button. It can now autonomously qualify inbound leads, trigger proactive workflows, and execute multi-step business logic directly inside your Flow canvas without human intervention.

It’s an incredible leap forward, but it raises the bar significantly for your org’s underlying foundation.

What This Means in Practice

When an AI agent acts autonomously on your behalf, it is only as smart—and safe—as the environment you give it. If your Salesforce setup has overlapping Flow automations, stale validation rules, or loose security permissions, handing the reins to autonomous agents won’t streamline your business—it will create chaos at scale.

For Life Sciences and healthcare orgs handling sensitive data, compliance logs, and complex provider relationships, this risk is even higher. An autonomous agent operating on poor data hygiene or vague permission sets can accidentally trigger incorrect communications or expose restricted data fields.

Before your team turns on autonomous agents or builds new AI workflows, you need complete visibility into your system’s technical health.

Q: With the end of summer approaching and big fall releases on the horizon, what should our Life Sciences team be doing right now to make sure our Salesforce org doesn’t break during upcoming system updates?

A: Ah, the mid-summer platform release countdown! It happens every year, but in the fast-moving Life Sciences space—where compliance logs, patient tracking, and medical rep workflows are strictly regulated—a surprise system update can cause real headaches if you aren’t prepared.

Right now, the absolute single best move your admin or RevOps team can make is to prep your Sandbox Preview before the late-August cutoff.

Think of your Sandbox like a stress-test laboratory. Before Salesforce rolls out new underlying features to your live production environment, a preview sandbox lets you test all your custom code, patient portals, and automated workflows on the new code release risk-free.

Here are three quick things to add to your July checklist:

  1. Mark August 27th on your calendar: Make sure your active test sandbox is properly refreshed and configured before the cutoff date so it automatically upgrades to the preview instance.
  2. Test your key compliance flows: Run a quick audit on the workflows your team relies on most—like HCP interaction logs, patient consent tracking, or automated lead routing—to catch any glitches early.
  3. Clean up legacy custom fields: If you’ve been hoarding old, unused fields or retired validation rules, summer is the perfect time to clean house so your platform runs as fast and clean as possible.

A little sandbox prep in July keeps your team off “firefighting duty” in the fall! And if you want a second pair of eyes to audit your sandbox configuration before the deadline, you know where to find your favorite Salesforce experts!
