In this article, Salesforce does a deep dive into e-commerce, telling the story of modern shoppers through the lens of data, and automation. Their results: inflation and margin pressure is creating a very different market.

To best combat these changing markets, Salesforce showcases several case study examples to further show the vast difference that automation, CRM adoption, and new analytic tools are making.

User Adoption Research: Details from my PhD Research

Recommendations for Further Research

In October, I attended the Life Sciences Future Biopharm conference in Philadelphia. (If you click on that link, you’ll see photographic evidence of my attendance; I was slightly alarmed to see my own face in such detail as I went to grab this link for you!  EEK.)

Someone I was networking with casually said to me, “Do you feel a bit…overeducated for what you’re doing?”

I literally dropped my coffee.

Low digital adoption is a huge problem; a 2019 dataset estimated about 29.5 BILLION dollars are wasted on software features.

Salesforce user adoption cannot be solved without considering all three derivatives of Leavitt’s diamond: People, Process, and Technology.  You’ve read about this Sales Triangle before; we implement this theory into every Salesforce project we undertake.  In my dissertation, as in all dissertations, I made recommendations for future studies:

It is recommended that future studies explore deeper and relevant practices in the Diffusion of Innovations approach to implementing and championing the adoption of CRM or other software systems or process approaches.  Future researchers may consider quantitative or mixed method approaches to capture a wider and more diverse audience with different boundaries to represent a more holistic view of CRM systems at organizations.  Further research could focus on adoption issues, including mistakes made during and after implementation, the length of time each stage takes organizationally, understanding the value of user manuals and training, and ways to improve the process.

So, no – I don’t think I’m overeducated, dear sir (and here’s a napkin to clean up the coffee I accidentally spilled)…in fact, I owe it to all of you to continue to focus on Salesforce user adoption, and I intend to do so!  If you have read anything amazing on tech adoption, please share it with me (for now, I return to EBSCOhost)!
