Have you ever sat down to watch Netflix and got yourself so caught up in just watching trailers that you never actually got to watch a movie because you were bopping around from trailer to trailer. Or is it just me? I know I’m not alone in this.
Hey everyone! I am Dr. Shannon Gregg, president of Cloud adoption solutions. And I’m here to tell you if you’re the type of person that has that level of curiosity where you want to know what something’s about before you allow yourself to be drawn into the whole entire thing. I’ve got a little trailhead hack for you.
So one of the things that I love to do when I’m digging around in Trailhead is, use this little shortcut that I have called quick look. So let me tell you what it is that I mean, and how this can benefit you. First of all, I want to be pretty clear with you about the difference between a trailhead module and a trailhead trail. A module is just a small unit that will allow you to learn something quick and very focused, and a trailhead trail can be a mix of projects and modules. So a trail is a guided learning path, so modules can be found inside of trails, so module is the smallest unit of learning that you can have inside of Trailhead. Please do not call them trailheads. Salesforce does not like that. They call them trailhead modules or trailhead trails. Trail mixes. You get the idea.
But let me tell you how you can use this trailer method to find out what it is you want to know or learn more about to help your org in the best way possible. You’ll see here I put a couple helpful stamps. Here star stamps because you are a star. So let’s dig in. First, you want to click on learn, and you want to go straight to modules, and that’s where I’m at right now. I’m just inside of modules because sometimes you just want to learn something quick to know. Do I want to even dig myself in. It doesn’t make sense. Salesforce is so big, not even Mark Benioff himself understands all the components that are inside of it. So you definitely want to be able to niche down and learn what makes the most sense for you and your org. I love this is my secret hack to type quick!
Look right here in the search bar, because Salesforce has so many modules that are quick to do. They take just a few minutes, and they give you the most high level understanding of what the salesforce product or feature functionality is. So you can see pretty quickly. Is this a movie? I want to watch. Is this a trail? I’d like to dig into a little bit more so I also will then sort it by most relevant.
So these are the 3 places I want you to look. Learn quick, look most relevant. And you can see right here really quickly. You can have a few different topics inside of quick look. So I looked at salesforce personalization, salesforce foundations, pricing maps. These help me understand, is this something that I want to dig deeper inside of.
So have fun with this. It’s a great thing to do in between meetings, or when you’re doing rapid research, or if you’re just the type of person that likes to watch a bunch of trailers before you decide which movie it is that you really want to watch.
